West Virginia football facts

West Virginia is not typically known for its football prowess, but the state has produced some of the game’s biggest stars.

West Virginia University has produced several NFL greats, including Randy Moss, Bruce Smith and Darryl Talley. The Mountaineers have also been home to some of college football’s biggest names, like Major Harris and Rich Rodriguez.

While West Virginia does not have a professional football team, the state is home to several semi-pro and minor league teams. The most notable of these is the West Virginia Wild, a minor league team that plays in the American Football Association.
